Yipee! I was so hopeful last night I even wrote out a to-do list titled “Snow Day”. My dream came true. I am very happy. Not that i mind working, don’t get me wrong, but I do have a list of things I wanted to do today and I’m excited to have a full day of me-time. I think every school system in the city is closed and about half of all flights are cancelled. Must be pretty bad out. It seems very probably that I may have another snow day tomorrow too. The taco soup that’s simmering in the slow cooker should help keep me warm today. Mmmmm….taco soup…..
This weekend my girls and I went to the Roller Derby. We had a blast! And the Naptown Tornado Sirens won!

Yesterday after work I went to the gym. When I got home, I decided to jump into the shower before making dinner. So I did. Turns out “jumping into the shower” equals “falling in the shower”. That’s right, my inner 80 year-old came out and I fell in the shower. It was actually pretty scary. For a few seconds I danced around like a drunk noodle and finally caught my balance. TIme slowed down and I definitely thought I was going to break my arm or something. But I didn’t. I somehow managed to land somewhat gracefully and safely. I’m sure I have a few bruises, but just glad I didn’t have to spend my snow day at the hospital.

I’m blogging from my phone. Just to see how it will work. Watching the end of citizen cane. Cross your fingers- on me staying awake and successfully blogging from my phone. Ta-da!

The January Joiners (”JJ’s”) at my gym are out of hand. You know, those people who make it a New Years Resolution and take over my gym using every machine and making me run zig-zag on the track? The ones who loiter, are there to socialize, and take all the good parking spots? Well…I am simply tired of them. It’s February 4th, isn’t it time they go back home and get back on the couch and pop open a bag of chips? Okay that’s harsh I guess, I wish everyone well on their endeavors with exercise, but I just wish they would all join a different gym. I’m still going to the gym at the same time but the gym is 3 times as crowded. It’s annoying.

I really love Eugene. He is a nugget of joy. He sleeps on my pillow now. With me. We share. We’re adorable, eh?

- Today I decided to rebel against my inability to keep a hold of an entire pair of gloves. I wore one brown glove and one black glove. I felt really stupid but I refuse to spend any more money on gloves. I also have the same luck with sunglasses. Every time I buy a somewhat decent pair of sunglasses I lose them within days, forcing me to wear my backup pair that were like $3 on clearance at Claires.
- Hosted a baby shower today at work for my dear friend Linds. There were no stupid baby games, no stupid balloons, just tons of delicious food and good company. It was really nice, and LIndsay got a nice collection of books for her baby’s library!
- Which also means, last night I baked 48 cupcakes, 4 of which were my dinner.
- I have had a blatant theme in the counseling world this work: the absent father and the effect it has on children. Dads, it you have children stay in their lives. If you do not, I can pretty much guarantee they will have a myriad list of social, emotional, and mental problems as they progress through life fatherless. It makes me sad.
- And one final thought, why do some people feel they have to park backwards. This bugs the crap out of me for some reason.
- Oh, and I just cleaned my apartment pretty well and that makes me very happy!

- I got my car back finally. It officially has a new bumper, a new battery, and nearly new tires. Here’s to hoping I knocked out my car repairs for the entire year already!
- I celebrated my new bumper by vacuuming and armor-all-ing my car (new word?)
- I was going to splurge on a car wash but decided that would be like throwing $10 into a dirty pile of snow
- Yesterday it was 58 degrees. Today it was freezing and snowing and blowing. Huh????
- Sunday the sun came out for 3 minutes. It felt like pure bliss. I ran outside and enjoyed every minute of it. Now I realize how pathetic it is that 3 minutes of sun feels like something special.
- Last week I was at Supertarget and the electricity went out. It was bizarre. There weren’t even floodlights or any sort of emergency lighting. I was actually pretty freaked out for a minute. They were able to restore some lights and of course, the cash registers.
- Then the next day I dropped my work keys in the dressing room of Kohls. I retraced my steps the next day and it occurred to me to call and see if they might be there. Luckily they were. Someone, somewhere is trying to tell me to STOP SHOPPING.
- Speaking of shopping, I initially went to Kohls to get some new gloves. I had a cute pair of gloves, and lost one of them. Then I used my backup pair of not-so-cute-but-functional gloves, and lost one. So I did get a new pair of gloves and three days later…guess what? That’s right, I lost one. I have decided that I am just not meant to have warm hands
- I sort of attempted to play match-maker today. This is something I’ve never attempted in my life. I feel a little nervous about it. More on that later.
- I have a dentist appointment tomorrow. Thankfully it’s only a cleaning. Too bad right after I’m coming home to make 2 dozen cupcakes for a baby shower I’m hosting on Wednesday. I’m sure my dentist would love to hear this.

First, can’t make a family Christmas due to car trouble (turns out to be simply moisture in gas tank, but I sure didn’t know that at the time). Next, hit post of carport and do nearly $2000 in damage to bumper. Finally, try to leave work to go to gym tonight and have a dead battery. $103 later, my car has a brand new battery. What on earth is going on here people???????????
