I just got home from seeing “The White Ribbon”. It left me with a lot of unanswered questions. I liked it, I just really was looking for some sort of unfolding at the end, like the in The Usual Suspects ya’ know? I just sat through 2 1/2 hours of strange occurrences and I really wanna know whodunnit!

I am very sleepy, stayed up too late trying to watch the Oscars. I’m glad Avatar didn’t win, I am utterly sick and tired of hearing about this movie.

Tomorrow night I have a screening of “She’s Outta My League”. I just know my IQ will drop a few points.

It’s been 50 plus degrees the past few days, and I absolutely love it! Everything in the world seems better when the sun is out! It’s SO wonderful to drive to work in the morning and have it be a tad light out. Too bad daylight savings is coming next Sunday to ruin that. Damn you daylight savings! Who’s idea was this anyway?

This week has been incredibly busy, but throughout the day I seem to get jolts of inspiration of thoughts I want to say in a blog. Then by the time I work all day, maybe go to the gym, go though bills, yada yada, sit down to blog, those thought are all gone and I really want to settle in with my computer, but not to type out a story. Maybe I’ll try sending those random thoughts through my iphone wordpress app (yes there’s an app for that) , almost like my very own “blog tweets”, that way, none of those little fleeting thoughts will get left out.

Kalaharie & Curling

So I survived the Kalaharie water park mini-vacation. It was wonderful! Three days of all the people I love the most, gigantic water slides, sleeping in, tons and tons of food, a giant hot-tub with a swim-up bar, nonstop euchre…..please…..how much fun can one person have? Seriously, it was a really nice time. When we first arrived it was crazy busy and I was a bit nervous. I am NOT a fan of waiting 30-60 minutes to get on a ride. It’s not really worth it to me. Turns out Canadian schools were on spring break. They assured us the next day wouldn’t be as busy and it wasn’t. Whew. When I got home Tuesday night I was EXHAUSTED. Keeping up with kids at a water park during the day, and then my brother (the energizer bunny) at night….well, that just wipes a person out. Then post-vacation depression set in. I always feel sad after vacation, I realize that’s pretty common, but it just seems to suck to have to get back to the norm. And my norm is actually pretty great, it just for some reason is a hard transition. So, I decided I needed to have something in the works to look forward to. So, after a little research, and a little inspiration from the Olympics, I am going curling Monday night!!! Frosting and I love curling (watched a lot from that giant hot tub) - and I figured there had to be somewhere in the Indianapolis area where they had curling, and sure enough, Indianapolis has a curling club. And due to the Olympics, they are having all these extra open house/beginner clinics because everyone is fascinated with it and wants to give it a try. I am so excited I can hardly wait! It’s a 2 1/2 hour class, they teach you the basics and then you get to play. Look out Canada, here I come!

On a completely separate note, I saw a brilliant movie tonight - A Single Man. It was truly beautiful.

A Lovely Tuesday

Well, my readers are demanding I write more. I must not disappoint my dear fans, so here I am, searching for a tale to tell. (Ok my readers weren’t so much as demanding more, but my friend Dawn gave me a funny look today at work and said “you sure haven’t written much lately!”) I am sitting here sipping green tea, watching the Olympics (wishing it were curling instead of ice skating). I really enjoy the Olympics. I especially love all the heartwarming stories about the athletes, they always manage to tell a heartwrenching story which leaves you really pulling for an athlete that you’ve known for all of about 45 seconds. Over the weekend one tale even brought me to tears. Speaking of the weekend, it was a terrific Valentines Day weekend, filled with delicious food (lobster tails, steak, gourmet pizzas, wine, wonderful cheeses, etc) movies (Crazy Heart, Trees Lounge, Two Lovers), a Euchre tournament, a trip to the farmers market, some shopping, and I even managed to squeeze in an entire “me day” with the additional Monday off (President’s Day). A perfect weekend. Next weekend is my family’s annual water-park trip. This year we’re going to Kalaharie (Sandusky, OH) instead of Great Wolf Lodge. Apparently it’s a bit more “grown-up” and is the largest indoor water park in the country. I can’t wait! It will be nice to take a little mini-vacation during these ultra-dreary winter months. And even though we’re not exactly basking in the sun, being in a gigantic indoor water park does make you forget about all of the gray and the cold and the snow for a minute.

Snow Day!

Yipee! I was so hopeful last night I even wrote out a to-do list titled “Snow Day”. My dream came true. I am very happy. Not that i mind working, don’t get me wrong, but I do have a list of things I wanted to do today and I’m excited to have a full day of me-time. I think every school system in the city is closed and about half of all flights are cancelled. Must be pretty bad out. It seems very probably that I may have another snow day tomorrow too. The taco soup that’s simmering in the slow cooker should help keep me warm today. Mmmmm….taco soup…..

This weekend my girls and I went to the Roller Derby. We had a blast! And the Naptown Tornado Sirens won!

Yesterday after work I went to the gym. When I got home, I decided to jump into the shower before making dinner. So I did. Turns out “jumping into the shower” equals “falling in the shower”. That’s right, my inner 80 year-old came out and I fell in the shower. It was actually pretty scary. For a few seconds I danced around like a drunk noodle and finally caught my balance. TIme slowed down and I definitely thought I was going to break my arm or something. But I didn’t. I somehow managed to land somewhat gracefully and safely. I’m sure I have a few bruises, but just glad I didn’t have to spend my snow day at the hospital.
