Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day weekend turned out to be wonderful.  Saturday night was a surprise party for a friend/coworker which was really fun.  It’s always nice to hang out with work friends outside of the work environment.  Sunday was Erin & Steve’s annual Memorial Day party.  It turned out to be a terrific party.  The day was filled with children playing and old friends catching up and laughing.  As well as being entertained by our friends Brent & Rochelle with some acoustic 12-string guitar and beautiful harmonizing.  And during that beautiful singing my darling 2 year old niece decided to unleash an afternoon of too much lemonade in the form of 10 gallons of pee all over my lap.  Hilarious!  Even when Erin quickly grabbed her off of my lap she was still gushing like a geyser.  How does something so tiny produce so much pee?

The night turned into a bonfire, where we got to hang out with and catch up with high school & college friends alike.  The morning delivered a delicious frittata and a lunch out with the sisters.  Pretty sweet huh?

Also saw a few movies the past couple of days.  New movies I should say.  Saw Wendy & Lucy Monday night.  I really enjoyed it.  I wouldn’t give it 5 stars or anything, but I did enjoy it.  I particularly liked the absence of dialog.  I feel like this really forces the movie to be more creative with the way it’s filmed if it’s not just filled with mindless dialog.  Not that all movie dialog is mindless but you catch my drift.  And now I just finished The Wackness.  It was really good.  Great performance by Ben Kingsley.   And it had some previews of some movies that I’ve been wanting to see that I forgot about.  Particularly Waltz with Bashir.  Looks like it might be similar to Persepolis only a tale of war told through the soldiers versus the teenager trapped in the times.  I really need to sign up for Netflix.  Fast.

What I also really need to do is move.  Soon.  It is going to happen soon, About 2 weeks to be exact.  I really need to get into my own place and make it my own and finally unpack and just be settled.  Living out of boxes provides you the opportunity to live temporarily without the tie to physical possessions - it can also drive you mad from time to time.

I’ll be done working this week so my time can be solely devoted to packing, then moving, then unpacking, then getting completely settled in.  And don’t forget that pool at the new place that will be calling my name.  And the tennis courts.
